About

I’m Cameron.
I’m a lawyer who writes.

Commercial lawyer based in Sydney. Writing about law careers and the gap between what law school teaches and what the first five years actually look like.

I work in commercial law in Sydney. Before that I was a law student who applied everywhere, got knocked back a lot, and eventually worked out what actually mattered — not from the career services office, but from trial and error and paying close attention to what the people who succeeded had done differently.

This site started as a place to write down what I wished someone had told me earlier. Career advice without the LinkedIn polish. Notes on firm culture. Thoughts on practice area decisions. The things that feel obvious in hindsight and genuinely aren’t at the time.

I also offer one-on-one calls for people navigating their law careers — clerkship applications, lateral moves, career direction, or just wanting to talk through a decision with someone who’s been through it.

Occasionally I write about other things too. That’s allowed.

Career advice should leave the reader less anxious about the future, not more anxious about themselves.
