Why most job offers go cold

A note on the silence between the handshake and the contract, and what to do when the inbox stays empty.

The offer was verbal. The handshake was firm. You sent a polite follow-up the next morning and then...

The silence is not an answer

Most junior lawyers interpret a delayed offer as rejection. It's almost never that simple.

The gap between "we'd love to have you" and a signed contract is the most anxious 72 hours in a junior's career — and almost entirely avoidable.

The reason offers go cold is rarely the candidate. It's usually a partner disagreement, a billing surprise, or someone on leave.
